Forums and Events Overview

The Hinckley Institute of Politics is dedicated to hosting conferences and activities that are educational for the University of Utah student body and the entire community. Through Hinckley Forums, Hinckley Fellows, The Huntsman Seminar, and political conferences, the prominent experts of today educate the leaders of tomorrow.

Hinckley Forums
Hinckley Forums enable students, faculty, and community members to discuss a broad range of political concepts with political experts several times each week. Past guests include President Bill Clinton, President Gerald Ford, Senator Orrin Hatch, Senator John McCain, Utah Governor Michael Leavitt, and many other notable professionals.

Hinckley Fellows
The Hinckley Fellows program has honored many notable public servants over the past forty years.

Conferences
The Hinckley Institute of Politics and the Campaign Legal Center co-host an annual conference in Salt Lake City on campaign finance issues. Experts from across the nation come together and discuss future improvements to campaign finance regulations. Past participants include Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Commissioner Scott Thomas of the Federal Election Commission.

The Huntsman Seminar
The Huntsman Seminar in Constitutional Government for Teachers is an eight-day seminar sponsored by the Huntsman Corporation. The primary focus of the seminar is to improve the quality of civic education in Utah schools. Educators are able to discuss current events in American Politics with political experts and visiting politicians. The Huntsman Seminar is truly a unique opportunity for teachers to gain an in-depth understanding of local and national political issues.
