The Hinckley Institute of Politics is dedicated to hosting conferences
and activities that are educational for the University of Utah student
body and the entire community. Through Hinckley Forums, Hinckley Fellows, The Huntsman
Seminar, and political conferences, the prominent experts of today educate
the leaders of tomorrow.
Hinckley Forums
Hinckley Forums enable students, faculty, and community members to discuss
a broad range of political concepts with political experts several
times each week. Past guests include President Bill Clinton, President
Gerald Ford, Senator Orrin Hatch, Senator John McCain, Utah Governor
Michael Leavitt, and many other notable professionals.
Hinckley Fellows
The Hinckley
Fellows program has honored many notable public servants over the past
forty years.
Conferences
The Hinckley Institute of Politics and the Campaign Legal Center co-host
an annual conference in Salt Lake City on campaign finance issues.
Experts from across the nation come together and discuss future improvements
to campaign finance regulations. Past participants include Senator
John McCain (R-AZ) and Commissioner Scott Thomas of the Federal Election
Commission.
The Huntsman Seminar
The Huntsman Seminar in Constitutional Government for Teachers is an eight-day seminar sponsored by the Huntsman Corporation. The primary focus of the seminar is to improve the quality of civic education in Utah schools. Educators are able to discuss current events in American Politics with political experts and visiting politicians. The Huntsman Seminar is truly a unique opportunity for teachers to gain an in-depth understanding of local and national political issues.
