ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

COURTNEY MCBETH

ACCEPTS NEW POSITION

WITH THE SORENSON IMPACT CENTER

After 15 remarkable years at the Hinckley Institute of Politics, Associate Director Courtney McBeth accepted a new position as Managing Director of Research and Academics at the University of Utah’s Sorenson Impact Center. We would like to congratulate Courtney on her new position and thank her for the many years of dedicated service to the Institute. Courtney’s leadership has been instrumental in developing and managing our various internship and academic programs.  Perhaps most impactful, Courtney spearheaded the creation of the University of Utah’s first and only Global Internship Program, where she established internship opportunities in over 60 countries around the world.

Reflecting on her tenure at the Hinckley, Courtney says, “It has been an honor to work at the Hinckley Institute over the past 15 years and to work with thousands of students and to develop student programming—most notably the global internship program. My most enduring memories will be working with and teaching the best and brightest students at the University of Utah.”

Until Courtney’s replacement is announced, please direct all questions regarding the Global Internship Program to Anna Edelman at anna.edelman@hinckley.utah.edu.

INTRODUCING OUR NEW DIRECTOR

OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS:

MATT LUSTY

We are excited to welcome Matt Lusty to our team. Matt is a communications professional with several years of experience working with some of the longest-standing brands in the state. He will oversee our marketing and communication strategy and work as a producer of The Hinckley Report, among other responsibilities. Two fun facts: Matt is an avid soccer player and coach, and he recently attended a trade show in Hong Kong and somehow managed to walk out empty-handed.

HINCKLEY INSTITUTE IN THE NEWS

Ciriac Alvarez Vallez, a student actively involved with the Hinckley Institute, recently collaborated with various news sources to share her experiences as an undocumented immigrant involved with the DACA program. You can listen to her interview with NPR here and read her opinion piece in the New York Times here
