Alumni Spotlight
Curtis Pierce’s path in finance began with the Hinckley Institute’s Washington, DC Internship Program, where he worked as a finance and accounting intern with The Mitchell Group during the summer of 2014. The experience proved foundational, giving him early professional exposure and helping him secure later internships with Goldman Sachs, Horizon View Capital, University Growth Fund, and Wells Fargo Securities.
The Hinckley internship allowed me to acquire key skills and experience that became the foundation for my future undergraduate internship positions.
Beyond the professional growth, Pierce treasures the broader experience of spending a summer in the nation’s capital.
My favorite Hinckley memory is the rich cultural and social experience of living in DC for the summer.
After graduating with an Honors BS in Finance in 2017, magna cum laude and as a member of the Beehive Honor Society, Pierce began his career at Wells Fargo Securities in New York City, where his internship transitioned into a full-time role. He has now lived and worked in New York for more than eight years, charting a dynamic career in investment banking, venture capital, and executive leadership.
Today, Pierce is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Weisburd Capital, a NYC-based alternative asset manager, and a producer of How I Invest, one of the top-ranked investing podcasts. His previous roles include Senior Vice President at 10X Capital and CFO of a publicly traded company.
Pierce’s leadership started early at the University of Utah, where he served as President of Beta Theta Pi, Vice Chair of the ASUU Appropriations Committee, a leader in the Finance Club, a representative of the David Eccles School of Business, and a member of the MUSS Board. He remains deeply connected to his alma mater as President of the University of Utah New York Alumni Chapter and as a member of the DESB Young Alumni Council.
