Nuclear Savage: Screening and Discussion

  • Gardner Commons — Hinckley Institute of Politics 260 South Central Campus Drive, Room 2050 Salt Lake City, Utah 84112 (map)

Nuclear Savage (60 min) follows Pacific Islanders' struggle for survival, dignity and justice after decades of human radiation experiments conducted in the Marshall Islands by the U.S. government.

After the screening, join us for a Q&A with nuclear expert Rick Wayman. Wayman will discuss the lawsuits filed in 2014 by the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) against all nine nuclear-armed nations at the International Court of Justice and against the United States in U.S. Federal Court. Wayman's organization, the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, consulted the RMI in these cases. Wayman spent two weeks in the Hague in 2016 supporting the RMI's legal team during the oral arguments at the International Court of Justice.
