At this Hinckley Forum, we will explore urgent threats to subsistence and to the free practice of science, and consider how these challenges are reshaping the way we define and understand human rights.

Professor Helle Porsdam
Helle Porsdam is Professor of History and Cultural Rights in the Faculties of Humanities and Law at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, where she also holds the UNESCO Chair in the Right to Science. She did her PhD in American Studies at Yale University and has been a Liberal Arts Fellow twice at the Harvard Law School. In 2021, she was Leverhulme Visiting Professor at the University of Cambridge and before that, she was a Global Ethics Fellow at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs in New York City. Professor Elizabeth Ashford
Elizabeth Ashford is Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of St Andrews. She did her PhD at Oxford University, and has been a Faculty Fellow in Ethics at the Harvard University Edmund J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics, an H. L. A. Hart Visiting Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Ethics and the Philosophy of Law, and a Laurance S Rockefeller Visiting Fellow at the Center for Human Values at Princeton University. Deen Chatterjee has been a Faculty Affiliate at Oxford Consortium for Human Rights at the Institute for Ethics, Law, and Armed Conflict at Oxford University. Earlier, he was Senior Fellow in the S.J.
