DC Internship Scholarship

Washington, DC Interns are automatically considered for scholarship funding. Do not fill out an application.

The Hinckley Institute provides subsidized housing to interns working in Washington, DC. Housing rates vary depending on room selection.
Unpaid interns also receive a scholarship of $500 per month for the duration of the semester.
All interns accepted to the DC program are eligible for this funding, there is no need to submit a secondary application.

National (non-DC) Internship Scholarship

The Hinckley Institute provides academic credit for students who participate in qualifying national internships outside the DC area through our Set Up Your Own program. Scholarship amounts for this program range from $500-$1,000 depending on the application and need assessment. Interns must apply two weeks before the internship start date.

IMPORTANT:  Interns who have already graduated from the University of Utah are NOT eligible for scholarship funding. We accordingly recommend students interested in interning at the end of their senior year to defer graduation for one semester so that they can qualify for scholarship funding.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • Must be a degree-seeking student at the University of Utah

  • Student must participate in a national internship outside of Washington, DC, and be registered for HNKLY credit

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawfully present in the U.S., or have graduated from a Utah high school.

  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA

*Scholarship funds will be released approx. two weeks after the start of the semester.
